Hello! If you are reading seeking to read these reviews in order than this is the first one. A little disclaimer is that I wrote a BUNCH of reviews in the last year but I published them on the Puzzle People Facebook group where all the puzzlers I know are. My goal is to move all the reviews to this site and continue to write my newer ones here. If a game is an older review I will note this. This game was played in March 2020.

Inspectors' Review:

  • 4 out of 4 paws for paper - very good for rolling :P

  • Box is small but we fit

  • Smells weird and we like it

  • Glass bottles are fun for batting but Boss said no

Boss' Review:

I came across Root of All Evil when I asked some Facebook friends recommendations for new puzzle experiences similar to Mysterious Package Company and came across Crack A Nut Mysteries. The experience was on par with prices for packages from MPC and I decided to give it a try as I am a fan of horror.

When Crack A Nut Mysteries package arrived on my doorstep I was giddy with excitement just looking at the writing on the package, which was already preparing you for the experience.

How this experience unravels its story is the center of why I recommend this package. The narrative is found in a bound journal provides a sound base but it is the artifacts and the puzzle to flesh out the story and make it more impactful as you put information and circumstances together. The puzzles provide surprise and excitement with “Aha!” moments as you pour over the items in the puzzle. The puzzles themselves are a mix of traditional ones and ones of Angela’s creation and they fit seamlessly with the story.

Angela provides excellent customer service through quick responses when in need of hints or having questions. She shows a passion for her work through the detail in each item in the box (and the box itself!) and shows enthusiasm to assist you. The artifacts are exquisite and add eeriness to the story from a smudging of dirt to the tarnish of metal as you look back to them while you read.

Overall, this was my first experience with Crack A Nut Mysteries and it will not be my last! I have ordered her other experience, Double Major, right after this game. If you love tactile scary stories with puzzles, this it the package for you!
